This surprising valley, called by the inhabitants of San Pedro d'Atacama "el vallecito" in reference to the Moon Valley, is located in the heart of the salt mountain range.

"El vallecito" has nothing to envy to its big sister the Moon Valley and will allow you to appreciate similar landscapes in a more authentic way.

Lost waterfall

The "Lost Waterfall" excursion offers you a mini-trekking downhill to the bottom of a canyon of giant cactus, then along the Vilama River.

After a 40 minutes walk approximately, we will discover the first small waterfalls, and finally enjoy the beauty of a waterfall several meters high, hidden between the high walls of the canyon.

Baltinache lagoons

During this excursion we will drive across the "plain of patience", between the salt and Domeyko mountain ranges. In the middle of the salt desert, we will discover 7 small salty lagoons in which you will enjoy a relaxing and entertaining swim.

Raindow valley

The wonderful Rainbow Valley owes its name to the great variety of colors that can be observed in this geological formation of the Domeyko mountain range. Here we will admire hills with various shapes and colors, sculpted by erosion.

On the way, we might meet some camelids like guanacos or llamas, so we would stop to observe and photograph them.

Puritama hot springs

At the bottom of a canyon in the Andes mountain range is located the Puritama hot springs touristic complex: 8 natural swimming pools with medicinal and therapeutic properties. Here you will enjoy a relaxing break. These waters come from the depths of the ground at a temperature of 30°C approximately (86°F).

Tebinquiche lagoon & Ojos del salar

These two places to visit are located in the northern part of the Atacama salt flat, about 30 km from the village of San Pedro de Atacama.

First, we will visit the "Ojos del salar": two mysterious and perfectly rounded lagoons in the middle of the salt desert. Then we will head to the magnificent salt flat and lagoon of Tebinquiche, which was declared natural sanctuary in 2019.

Moon valley

The inimitable Moon valley is one of the classics and a must-visit for all visitors to the San Pedro de Atacama area. A geological wonder, a few kilometers from the village, which will amaze you and will certainly delight you with its landscapes and unique colors.

In 1982, the Moon valley was declared natural sanctuary and integrated into the "Los flamencos" National Reserve.

Cejar & Tebinquiche lagoons

During this excursion, we will visit the archaeological site of Hierbas buenas to appreciate the ancient rock art and learn more about the local history. After enjoying our breakfast or snack, we will head to the Rainbow Valley to explore its trails and admire its geology and colorful landscapes.

FULL DAY

Tatio geysers

The Tatio geothermal field is a natural wonder located at 4,300 meters above sea level. It is the third largest geothermal field in the world and allows to appreciate a wide variety of geothermal manifestations: water bubbling, geysers and fumaroles.

During the road back to San Pedro de Atacama, we will stop to visit the bofedal of Putana: a valuable place due to its ecosystem and its view of the active volcano Putana. Finally, we will pass through the small village of Machuca and its lagoon inhabited by many species of birds.

The excursion begins very early in the morning to arrive on site before sunrise to take advantage of the geothermal phenomena at their maximum splendor.

Red rocks & Tuyajto lake

Towards the Argentinian border, we will discover these two magnificent lagoons and salt flats offered to us by the Mother Nature. Golden straw, turquoise lagoon, white salt flats, reddish rock formation and beige-toned volcanoes draw an incredible palette of colors.

Road of the salt flats

The "Road of the salt flats" is an excursion with unique landscapes. Its remoteness and altitude, combined with the pure blue sky and impressive geological formations, will transport all visitors on an unprecedented journey to the heart of the highlands of the Andes mountain range.

We will start our day of visit with our breakfast at 4,000 meters above sea level with a breathtaking view of the Licancabur volcano. We will then continue our journey to the Quepiaco bofedal, we will also visit the "Monjes de la Pacana", natural geological sculptures, to finally continue the CH-27 road and discover the salt flats of Aguas calientes I and Quisquiro.

Altiplanic lakes, Red rocks & Chaxa

The Miscanti & Miñiques altiplanic lagoons are located in the heights of the Andes mountain range, between volcanoes and mountains. They are part of the "Los flamencos" National Reserve. The contrasts and colors of this place are a must-visit in San Pedro de Atacama.
